Yep, it’s true! We are having a baby – arriving in September 2015!!!* I know I am throwing out two big pieces of news now – our first house and a baby. When we found out about the baby in late January (it was quite the surprise), we decided the house couldn’t come at a better time so we moved a little more quickly on the process.
I will go ahead and answer a few questions I seem to be asked quite a bit 🙂
1. How have you been feeling?
Well, let me just say…the first trimester was NOT FUN. I was extremely sick and on top of feeling terrible most days, we were experiencing the terrible blizzards here in Boston so I felt like I was going a bit crazy. I was attempting to get as much work done as possible for my very patient clients and keep food down at the same time. You might have noticed I was not as active on instagram or on the blog here – and when I did post, it was about not feeling well and trying to catch up. I was getting very frustrated because I was SO tired in a way I had never felt before and all I wanted to do was get work done… but I listened to my body and took nap breaks in the middle of the day so I could power through the evening. There were a couple of days where I had been sick all day long and the only thing that sounded good were starbursts (SO WEIRD)… Cody was the best and would bring home anything I “needed”….milkshakes, pickles and french fries to name a few. (I guess that answers the food cravings question).
It’s crazy because all of the things I read about when you begin to feel better were all spot on. Once I hit the 2nd trimester (a few weeks ago), it was like night/day. I have so much more energy and am able to power through a full day of client work. I don’t feel nauseous at all times – but on occasion I will get a bad headache.
2. Are you finding out the gender?
See last photo below 😉
Off subject – I have to explain this photo above… there was a huge bumble bee that even though I knew wouldn’t sting me… was flying around me buzzing and I freaked out! The bee was definitely taunting me. Cody was just laughing and not helping the situation…and our fabulous photographer Nicole Baas (and my studiomate) caught the whole thing. 😉
3. How far along are you?
19 weeks
4. A crazy story I want to share:
So, when we found out that we were having a baby, I didn’t know what I should do first… so I did what most would do when they don’t know the answer…went on Google and searched “what to do when you find out you’re pregnant” haha! So I went on a website that will estimate your due date and the date that popped up was my mom’s birthday! If you don’t already know, I lost my mom to a short battle with breast cancer when I was 15. Seeing that date pop up on the screen made me instantly gasp and I felt comforted knowing she was going to be apart of this exciting/nerve-wracking time with us!
Cody and I have talked about what we were going to name our kids down the line before and we always said we would name a girl after my mom and a boy with a meaningful name in Cody’s family. Well, it turns out…. we are having a girl and she will be named after my mom, Evelyn, and will hopefully be born on or very close to my mom’s birthday! This is probably the best gift I have ever received. It makes me tear up just thinking about it… and I am so excited to finally share the news with you guys!
Now, I won’t go all mom blog on you or anything. However, I do plan on sharing some highlights of this exciting time and of course… the nursery design/process!
Original photography by the lovely and talented, Nicole Baas of Nicole Baas Photography! Thank you so much for these wonderful photos 🙂
I’m so so excited for you, Jess! Congratulations again!
Thank you, Alex!! 🙂
