Remember that one time when I started a new series on my blog called “What’s On || In”?  You know…. this post. Well, I am finally ready to go forward with this fun series!  I am ecstatic about sharing it with you all because I have clients who either come into West Elm or clients who send me emails asking for my expertise in styling.

So here’s the deal:

(I won’t give you every trick in my book, but I will help you get started).

1. Books/Magazines: I always begin with books/magazines, stacking books is a great way to build height on any vignette as well as bring type, color and lines to the design. Be sure to align your books by height or color.

2. Form:  Whether it’s a vase, a globe, a cloche, I could go on and on. Something to break up the straight lines and also add more color, texture and/or pattern.

3. Personality: (things you just like to have around) – this for me is always flowers. You cannot go wrong with flowers.

4. Frames + art: These you can lean up against the wall on the shelf and put some of your favorite art in it to place in the background of your vignette.

** styling tip: make sure you leave some negative space. *you know, the space between all of your objects.  Any great composition has negative space.

Now I have to know: What are some things in your home you would like to know “What’s On or In” in my home? Perhaps my nightstands? Desk? I would love to hear from you!
