It’s about time for a little house update! To catch you up since this post, all of the rooms have a fresh coat of paint and we removed the unnecessary sconces from the living room and hallway along with the telephone jacks that were in every room. These two things alone really transformed the space! However, we still have a bit of work to do to pull together the Master Bedroom, Guest Bedroom and Living Room (it’s extremely hard to commit to art…am I right?). The only rooms that are completely done are the nursery and guest bathroom – but hey, progress is progress! 😉

We are so close to finishing the Master Bedroom so I thought I would share what we have done so far and ideas for the finishing touches. Take a look at some of the before photos here. Now for some inspiration for the space (click on the photos to go to the source):

Below are the pieces we have (except the nightstands because those are on our wish list):
masterbedroom-designHere’s the deal – our Ikea Dresser has been moved into 4 different homes now and has seen better days. Eventually we will get a new one but for now it serves its purpose. We love our bed that we got from West Elm and the Cb2 Sconces are perfect for above our bed & flanking the window (see photo below).

IMG_7173Alright, so for the finishing touches we need:

  1. wall art for the side wall near the bathroom french doors and possibly something above the dresser (I was thinking a collection of hats)
  2. a chair or a tall dresser next to the wall that juts out (see before photos)
  3. a rug (I want something cozy but it has to be 6×9 which is a little harder to find off the shelf… but I am going to see what I can find). I really like the rug in the first inspiration photo but could also see black and white stripes working well in here. I might put together a post with some of the rugs I find and get your opinion!
  4. white wood blinds to replace the existing ones
  5. a new ceiling fan (okay, I would prefer not to have a ceiling fan but I get SO hot when I sleep and it’s really nice to have… but then I think maybe we should replace it with a pendant and then get a floor fan…thoughts?).
  6. new bedding

So the next post I will be sure to share progress photos in my next update! Be sure to follow along on our house updates on instagram #thekleinsfirsthome!
