Do you think it took me long enough to share the nursery design for our little Evie who is expected to be here in September?! YES, I think so. Here’s a quick rundown: we moved into our new home last month (can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks now), we did a lot of patching of the walls, took out unnecessary electrical outlets, telephone jacks, etc. then got the house painted. All of those projects took longer than expected, as they always do, and my client’s projects of course come first.
I think I was so hesitant to make decisions on the nursery because I have actually never designed a room for myself and purchased everything at once. It’s always just come together piece by piece. You know what they say…something about the cobbler’s children having no shoes… 😉
Anyway, I had an idea of the direction I wanted to take, but I am pretty sure I’ve told everyone different things as I have been asked about the progress of the nursery. One week it was navy blue with blush pink + gold, the next week it was all neutrals, then just no pink. Well, that all changed. Here are some nurseries that inspired the direction of the nursery (click on photo for source):
I love how simple and cozy each of these nurseries look with just a hint of color here and there. They are serene and it seems like a room I would love to spend time in. So, here’s what I came up with:sources: one – assembly home hanging planters // two – land of nod striped khaki blanket // three – dwellstudio knitted pillow // four – hemnes 3-drawer dresser (changing table) // five – pottery barn kids evelyn curtains in white // six – this is not the exact crib because all of the photos of our crib had loud bedding and it didn’t mesh with the mood board, but it’s very similar. Here is ours. The one in the mood board is an old land of nod one I think. // seven – urban outfitters plum & bow rug // eight – willow ladder shelf (on sale!) // nine – I am going to order some of this wallpaper to frame from farrow & ball // ten – graham glider from west elm // eleven – moroccan leather pouf/ottoman // twelve – sheepskin rug // thirteen – target baskets
Paint – we went with one of my all time favorite colors… benjamin moore’s edgecomb gray
There is one missing link to finish off the nursery:
1. light fixture – we are looking at flush mounts or a pendant and can’t seem to find one that we are in love with yet. So far, with the help of one of my friends who is also a designer, we have these in the running:
Which one is your favorite?
Here is a sneak peek into the nursery so far. I wanted to show you this framed map of southeast asia we are hanging above the dresser (sorry for the terrible photo quality):Alright, so the next post I will do a before + after which I am SO excited about because it’s coming together rather quickly now!
What do you think?!
