A Day Trip: Nantucket

This Spring + Summer I have crossed off a few destinations on my “places to visit” list and one of top ones was Nantucket. Last Wednesday I had the pleasure of visiting with a few local bloggers in the area, thanks to New England Development. Just in case you didn’t know, it only takes 1 hour + 15 minutes from Boston to catch the ferry in Hyannis to Nantucket (without traffic). Then the hy-line fast ferry is an quick hour to Nantucket island. I think it’s important to note how easy it is to get to the island if you live in the area, because I was surprised to find out I was not the only first-timer (with it being so close). We were able to do all of the things below in just a day, but I would recommend staying as long as you can because there is so much to do and see. I cannot wait to plan a trip next Summer!A Travel Guide: NantucketOh, I Design Travels to Nantucket! The entire trip the girls and I were repeating, “is this real life?” and “why can’t everyday be like this?” as it truly was the perfect day to be on the island. If you love cobblestone streets, local shops, incredible food + beautiful views…well, this is the place for you. Alright…let’s get to where we shopped & what we ate!

A Travel Guide: Nantucketshop.

There are so many great locally owned shops on the island! Note: everything was in walking distance.

We had the pleasure of stopping by:

Beautycounter – this was one of my favorite stops because of my love for safe skincare + beauty products. I have been dreaming of their products online and when I walked into their thoughtfully designed pop-up shop, I was like a kid in candy store. Although I wanted everything in the store, I purchased their lip gloss in peony and I’m OBSESSED.

Monelle – absolutely loved this boutique!! I’m still daydreaming about this clutch and can’t wait to wear this cute pom-pom hat all winter long.

Shift – such a cute store! Their accessories and purses were my favorite – I think I need these earrings.

Sara Campbell – I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the Sara Campbell in Wellesely, but I loved this location! Their black and white striped walls were everything.Oh, I Design Travels to Nantucket!A Travel Guide: Nantucket

Ellie Kai – I’ve been a big fan of Ellie Kai since a friend began working there, but finally was able to see their clothes in person. Let me just say, the shop and the clothes were GORGEOUS!

Freedman’s – I love everything about family-owned shops and this one did not disappoint – everything from door knockers to an amazing collection of clocks. In case you want a gift for the man in your life or a pineapple door knocker…this is a must-visit!

Remy Creations – Such a cute location and Remy was a delight to meet! She makes everything by hand and all of her hard work shows.

Best of the Beach – The perfect spot to stop for a souvenir or to say hi to their cute shop doggie!

G.S. Hill Gallery – A shop near the ferry filled with beautiful handmade lightship baskets, original oil paintings and pearl jewelry. If you ask them ever so sweetly, you may even get to see the best view on the island! A Travel Guide: NantucketOh, I Design Travels to Nantucket!Oh, I Design Travels to Nantucket!

eat.

Met on Main – one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had, and the fries were to die for. Their back patio is absolutely dreamy – This is a MUST, we will be going back asap.

Ice – the italian ice so delcious – I got the blueberry lemon and it was so yummy!! Lola and Jack made the experience even better by giving us the story about how they started and how the design of the store came together. Lola, loved your 90’s music selection girl!

Oath Pizza – we ended our day trip by grabbing a pizza from Oath (I got the Bella…naturally) and eating it on the ferry, best decision ever (New England Development just gets it). Will be stopping by the locations in Boston because it was delicious!

Aunt Leah’s Fudge – guys, fudget and chocolate covered cranberries called Crantucket (clever, Aunt Leah). GO there and thank me later! Luckily in the meantime, you can order online!

Okay can you believe we did all of that in like 12 hours?! Talk about the perfect introduction to Nantucket. Who else has been?! What did you do, see & eat?

I will be filling in the “What to Do” section of this guide on my next trip, so stay tuned!
