Sometimes when I am sourcing furniture or decor for a project, I find myself in a design rut looking at the same sources online. Although my random trips to various local retailers help…what I really wish is that I could visit every estate sale, consignment shop and flea market to find one-of-a-kind pieces. Unfortunately, a lot of what I do has to be done behind a desk on a daily basis so that really isn’t feasible. And if you’ve never tackled a big flea market or a few estate sales…they can be all day affairs. Luckily, I was recently introduced to Everything But the House, an online estate sale company founded in Cincinnati.
EBTH has revolutionized the estate sale, creating a fun and convenient online experience. Even if you are not located in their current markets (listed toward the end of this post), they offer shipping! You can even type in your zip code to get an estimated shipping cost for various items. You can find furniture, decor, art, antiques, architectural artifacts, jewelry, appliances, you name it.
How to shop the site:
1. You can browse their current sales here. Or you can shop by category (i.e. furniture, art, decor) here. You can also just search a keyword, such as: lamp.
2. You find something you fall in love with…because every single time I am on their site… I find something I can’t live without. So many good finds to bid on people!
3. You place a bid on said item (after registering) or you can “follow” the item to monitor the bidding action. Items begin as little as $1.
4. Similar to a live auction, as sales almost come to a close (after 7 days)… last-minute bids add 5 additional minutes to the clock to give everyone a fair shot!
