Typically when I begin a new design project, I create a pinterest board to gather inspirational images to determine the design direction. I find it’s interactive for clients and is extremely helpful to see what catches their eye. When I was perusing pinterest this weekend, I was overwhelmed with how many black and white interiors that kept popping up. Although I tend to bring color into each space I design, the photos below make me giddy about the idea of designing a room sans color. The bold contrast makes the elements in black act as art (and white in the one photo with black walls) and the simplicity is refreshing. A repeating detail I notice that most of these rooms have are plants – which bring the space to life! Which one is your favorite?

Black and white is such a classic approach to design, which is as you said, refreshing. There’s that simplicity but sophistication that just calms you, you know? We would prefer the white walls but having black walls is an experiment worth venturing too like that of the 6th photo.
Do I have to pick 1? If so, then the kitchen is my favorite, I absolutely love the hanging light and the subway tile!
