jennalyons jennalyons2There’s something so great about seeing a creative person’s desk in the midst of numerous projects during the middle of the week. Because let’s be honest, an accountant’s chaos is probably not as aesthetically pleasing as say, the President and Creative Director of J.Crew‘s chaos. Sorry if there are any accountants reading this right now…if you disagree, I would love to see your desks! 😉 I just love seeing the reality of a workspace versus a very styled office. Also, I think it’s so interesting to see how people work and what they display in front of them during those working hours…you can tell a lot about someone by what’s on their desk.

See more of Jenna’s office here.

Cheers to the new week (that I am obviously slowly starting considering I am just now posting for the week)!

This is very true what you say, indeed. However, sometimes it is really difficult to surround yourself with many things that please your eyes or soul, when you are in the working environment, the pace is fast and your boss brings you a pile of administration papers needed to get done. Interior Designers have the advantage of making their working space inspiring, stylish and aesthetic. The rest of us can only be envy of all the creativity it brings them.

Nevertheless, your post made me think. I guess that each and every working environment should be designed in a way to boost employers´ creativity and motivation, right? No matter what the profession is, it could do no harm, just make you feel better and therefore boost your work performance. Nice post.

Hi Laurie,

Absolutely, you make a very good point! My reasoning for commenting on how interesting it is to see a creative persons’ desk is because their thought process more than likely lies on their desk. As an interior designer, I have more paperwork sitting on my desk more than I do beautiful swatches…but when I do have swatches, materials, paint samples and inspiration laid out…that’s when my desk starts to tell a story of that particular project. Just like Jenna’s looks like she is making some decisions on fabrics for shoes.

In addition, you are right, any type of employee that sits at a desk would benefit from surrounding themselves with some of their favorite items and decor….amidst the paperwork! Definitely a boost of motivation and creativity! Thank you so much for your comment and I appreciate your take!

Cheers!
