After hearing the news that Emily Henderson was curating an Etsy Pop-Up Shop Event at West Elm in LA, I knew it would be a great excuse to get some local SD gals together and make a mini-getaway of it! I was lucky to be accompanied by the lovely, Conni and Archana, and met up with friends like Rebecca (Emily’s old assistant) and my LA West Elm colleagues. Our first stop on our girls’ trip was obviously FOOD… unfortunately, I was quite car sick from the ride up so I was unable to enjoy the what looked to be delcious-ness of Laurel Hardware, however the interior was FAB. I really want the wallpaper above…and the pendant (Typewriter Boneyard…can we make this happen?).
Our next stop was West Elm! We were welcomed by some rad tunes by The Flashdance, met up with Emily and Rebecca., took way too many Smilebooth photos *if that’s possible* and explored some incredibly AWESOME Etsy shops curated by Mrs. Henderson. I also had the special opportunity to finally meet another talented LA designer… Christian May of Maison21.
I purchased this “YAY” card from Letterpress stationery and a leather keychain from 1.61.
A couple of other Etsy shop favorites: Iron Curtain Press | Upper Metal Class
On our next stop we decided to grab a drink at the Chateau Marmont and it was definitely a trip in itself if you know what I mean. Ahhh… prosecco + cheers to some of the best people watching of the trip! *side note: Archana is the best at spotting celebs!!
After our afternoon pick me up, we went to check in to our hotel at Pali Hotel. I was really obsessed with the decor downstairs but our room was just … okay. They could’ve done so much more with it and I think we all agreed we were over the dark teal walls after a few minutes. I mean, look at the photo with the tv and velvet tufted sofa… what happened to that wall? No love is what happened. But overall the experience was great and the folks that work there are rad. The BEST part of the hotel was that The , an incredible restaurant, was just right downstairs which we enjoyed for coffee and dinner! Do not leave without trying the biscuits!! That is an order. They also roast Handsome coffee…which I was finally able to try after hearing so many great things.
After our girls’ slumber party we ventured to the Melrose Trading Post to get our flea market on. I found a mongolian lamb pillow that is amazing…thanks to Archana for helping me get a good deal. Side note: what’s up with people slapping on some mint green paint to an old chest of drawers and calling it “shabby chic” to sell at these flea markets…let’s stop it. I did score in the jewelry department however, and if you know me, you know I rarely spend money on jewelry…so it was a big deal to find 3 pieces I fell in love with.
That pretty much sums up my weekend away. I had such a wonderful time with these two gals!!
*Also, I need to pause and give a huge shout out to Conni who was the ultimate LA driver…she basically owned the road and we found parking within minutes at every stop. Hats off to you Conni because I literally would get in a wreck everyday – you are amazing!
Most of the photos in this post were taken by Archana of My SoCal’d Life! – THANK YOU!
