Yesterday was my 5 Year Blogging Anniversary! 5 YEARS! While I was reminiscing, I went back to my very first post about the Local Natives (don’t judge). Anyway, it got me thinking about how much has changed in the past five years and how this piece of the internet has been a constant in my life. It’s been with me through two cross-country moves (San Diego and Boston), a wedding (love you Cody!!), a baby (#EvieJuneKlein) and the ups and downs of growing an interior design business (With Love, Design turned Oh, I Design Interiors).
If you would’ve asked me what I thought this blog was going to turn into when I first began, I think I would’ve said “oh it’s just going to be a place where I post inspiration”…and THAT’S IT. Somehow between then and now, it’s become an incredible avenue for creative brand partnerships, how I connect with potential clients, a place to post inspiration (this won’t change), and a sort of life journal.
To summarize the past five years is SO hard, but here’s a little glimpse. I’ve partnered with some fantastic brands (like this one, this one, this one, & this one), wrote about some design tips like my go-to neutral paint colors and this walls by mur project, and a few room makeovers (like this one, this one & this one). I’ve been featured in some fantastic publications (here, here & here) and way back when my website was jessicajpackard.com…our first apartment in San Diego was featured on The Everygirl. It’s funny how you look back on past work that you were so proud of and have grown so much since…it’s a bit daunting as an artist and creative to revisit these moments. Moving right along… 😉
I think the best thing that has come from this blog are the relationships I’ve formed. Some of my best friends I’ve met over the years started from an email intro and a coffee date. I get asked all the time how I have moved to two different cities and made new friendships and kept my design business afloat…and I owe a lot of that to this blog. and YOU. Thank you for being a friend, a reader and constant support through everything these past five years. I would not be writing this today without you. Yes, you reading this…YOU. I am beyond thankful for the little journey this blog has been on and can’t wait to see what happens in the next five!
So now as I sit here looking at the future of Oh, I Design – I want to know what keeps you reading? What do you want to see more of? Less of? Do you have specific interior design/styling questions? Leave them below. I want to hear anything and everything!
