Ahhh, Day 6 (I missed a couple of days so I am playing catch up). It’s been really great so far you guys – the city is charming and it actually feels like the holiday season, something that San Diego lacks. Still in the beginning stages of feeling like home, but it’s getting there. Cody and I decided to take on this whole public transit thing…which was interesting to say the least. We walked to the subway entrance closest to our apartment, destination: West Elm (where I will be working part-time). We purchased our “charlie cards” and headed downstairs to figure this thing out. Of course, we got all cocky and just hopped on the first one we saw thinking “oh, this is the one”. Come to find out it was taking us the opposite direction we wanted to go.
We then began to realize it was going to take a few brain cells to actually understand the system. That’s also when I got a little nervous – I could just picture myself getting lost on my first day at The Elm. Luckily, we managed to figure it out and successfully made it to West Elm on the green line. The only thing I am still struggling with is when I get off at a new stop, figuring out where to catch the connecting subway to my final destination. It makes me panic a little bit, not knowing where I am and all. But, I am excited to be able to get around without driving…it’s going to be a nice change.
